Working principle of swimming pool circulating water pump: The water pump is composed of a water pump impeller, a water pump volute, a motor and a pump shaft connecting the center of the impeller and the motor. When working, first open the water inlet pipe valve of the water pump to fill the pump casing with water. Then, turn on the power of the motor, and the motor drives the impeller of the water pump to rotate at a high speed (usually 1450/2900 rpm).

  • Installation Instructions
  1. During installation, the weight of the pipeline should not be added to the swimming pool pump, and there should be their own support body, so as not to cause deformation to affect the operating performance and life.
  2. The swimming pool water pump and motor are integral structures, and there is no need to align them during installation, so the installation is very convenient.
  3. The anchor bolts must be tightened during installation to avoid the impact of vibration on pump performance during start-up.
  4. Before installing the swimming pool pump, carefully check whether there are hard objects (such as stones, iron particles, etc.) in the pump flow channel that affect the operation of the pump, so as to avoid damage to the impeller and pump body during the operation of the swimming pool water pump.
  5. For the convenience of maintenance and safe use, a regulating valve is installed on the inlet and outlet pipelines of the pump and a pressure gauge is installed near the pump outlet to ensure the operation within the rated head and flow range, and ensure the normal operation of the pump. pump life.
  6. If the pump is used for suction, it should be equipped with a bottom valve, and the inlet pipeline should not have too many bends, and there should be no water or air leakage.
  7. The discharge pipeline such as the check valve should be installed outside the gate valve.

  9. The installation methods of the swimming pool pump are divided into rigid connection and flexible connection installation.
  • Installation order
  1. When the unit is transported to the site, the person with the base has already calibrated the swimming pool water pump and motor. It is not necessary to remove the water pump and motor when leveling the base, so the installation is very convenient;
  2. Put the base on the foundation, and pad wedge-shaped iron near the anchor screws, and raise the base by 20~40mm, and fill it with cement slurry after leveling;
  3. Check the levelness of the base with a spirit level, fill the base with cement slurry after leveling, and check the levelness again after the cement dries up.

4. For large units, the swimming pool pump, motor and base may be shipped separately for easier transportation. Users must install and calibrate the unit themselves by cleaning the base and feet, aligning and fixing the pump and motor, adjusting coupling gaps, and measuring accuracy with a feeler gauge. Gap should not exceed 0.3mm and the difference should not exceed 0.1mm.

5. When the unit does not have a base, it needs to be installed directly on the foundation. The method is similar to 4, but more attention should be paid to the correction.

Selection requirements for swimming pool water pumps

The circulating water pump is an integral part of the swimming pool water treatment system, which provides the power for the swimming pool water circulation. In the early stage of swimming pool construction, different circulating water pumps will be selected according to the water volume and actual requirements. If the choice is not good, it will affect the normal operation of the entire system, and then affect swimming pool water quality. 

  • Requirements for the selection of swimming pool circulating water pumps:
  1. The rated flow rate of the water pump should not be less than the calculated circulating water flow rate of the pool water circulation purification treatment system to ensure the required flow rate for the pool water cycle.
  2. The head of the water pump should not be less than the calculated value of the safety system, which is the sum of the geometric height of the water supply, the resistance of the circulation purification treatment system equipment and the piping system, and the required outflow head of the water inlet of the pool multiplied by 1.10
  3. The water pump should be a special frequency conversion speed regulation water pump for swimming pools with high efficiency, energy saving, corrosion resistance and low noise.
  4. The circulating water pump of the pressure filter should not be less than 2, and a spare pump should be installed and can run alternately with the working pump.
  5. The backwashing water pump of the quartz sand filter should be designed to operate in parallel with the working pump of the pool water circulating water pump and the
    standby pump, and the working condition of the circulating water pump should be checked and adjusted according to the flow and head required for backwashing of a single filter parameter.
Common faults and solutions of swimming pool pumps

In the swimming pool water circulation system, the water pump is a very critical equipment. There are many reasons for the failure of the water pump. The common ones are equipment failure, installation problem, operation failure and selection error, wait.

Judgment of water pump failure should be based on factors such as equipment status, basic indicators and maintenance experience, and make a comprehensive judgment. In the application practice of water pumps, troubleshooting should be based on specific problems and actual analysis, and the principle of first outside and then inside should be followed, and blind operation should not be done.

1. Water Pump Leaking
  • Reason:
  1. The casing is damaged or cracked
  2. Water leakage at the water pipe connection (for new installations)
  3. Leakage of mechanical seal
  4. The water pump leaks water for a long time
  5. Leakage at the connection between the pump parts and the parts
  6. The water pump runs dry
  7. The water pump has not been processed after the water pump is dry.
Water-Pump-Leaking
 
  • Solution:
  1. The flange plate or pump drum of the water pump has cracks and water leaks. Please check whether the pipe pressure head is too high or the water outlet is blocked, and the water outlet needs to be installed with a check valve. The pump casing and other accessories need to be replaced.
  2. Water leaks at the connection of the water pipe, disassemble and reinstall. (For new installations) Check whether the rubber ring at the connection of the pump casing is cleaned and installed correctly. Remove the apron again, clean it and install it again, and tighten the screws.
  3. Check whether the mechanical seal in the pump is worn and damaged, and replace the mechanical seal. Check whether the bearing is rusted due to water seal leakage. If the bearing is rusted, replace the bearing.
  4. If water leaks between parts of the water pump, please check whether the silicone ring at the connection is deformed or damaged, and clean the rubber ring before installation. Remove the apron again, clean it and install it again, and tighten the screws.
  5. If the water pump leaks water for a long time, please check whether the upper water pipe has a check valve installed on the water outlet side of the water pump. After the pump is repaired, a check valve needs to be installed during installation.
  6. The water pump runs dry. One is that water is not poured into the filter before the first operation of the water pump, and the filter basket must be filled with water in the first operation of the water pump. Second, it may be that the water inlet valve is not opened or the pipeline is blocked and the water flow is short of water. The solution is generally to check whether the water flow in the waterway is normal, and check whether all the valves on the pipeline are normal.
2. The water pump motor is hot or the water output is small
  • Reason:
  1. Motor phase loss
  2. Phase sequence error
  3. Motor reverse (for 380V water pump)
  4. The lack of phase of the motor causes instant heating (for 380V water pumps)
  5. Worn or damaged impeller
  • Solution:
  1. Generally, it is caused by the lack of phase of the power supply (one phase is not powered or the supply voltage is insufficient) or the contact point of the contactor in the line is not closed, the connection point of the wire is disconnected, loose or the contact position is oxidized. It is necessary to repair the motor again, and check whether the voltage of the incoming line voltage and the three live lines are equal to 220V.
  2. If the motor is delta connected, only one phase winding will be burned, and if the motor is star connected, two phase windings will be burned. You can use a megger to measure the insulation damage of one phase winding to the ground. One or two phases (level 4) in the winding are all blackened, and the damaged coil is called phase loss. If the motor is burned due to overload, it means that all three-phase groups are damaged to the ground insulation. The motor needs to be reworked.
  3. The lack of phase of the motor will also cause instantaneous heating (for 380V water pumps).
  4. As one of the main driving forces of the water pump, the impeller is always in a state of friction with water. If it is used for a long time, the probability of impeller wear is high, which may result in small or no water output. At this time, the impeller needs to be replaced.
3. Water pump vibration and noise
  • Reason:
  1. Water-soaked bearing raw embroidery
  2. Motor phase loss or phase sequence error
  3. There are sundries or broken parts in the pump
  4. Pump installation is not standardized
  5. Water pump installation points
  • Solution:
  1. Check if water pump soaked in water. If yes, motor sound may be loud due to rusted bearings. Water in motor and sewage can corrode pump motor bearings, causing tripping or loud rotation. Do not start pump again, disassemble motor and dry coil with halogen lamp, replace bearing to restore use. If motor insulation is poor, repair before use.
  2. Quickly cut power and check for phase loss or wrong phase. Phase loss occurs when one or two live wires have no voltage, check power line from box to pump. Phase sequence error is detected by motor reversal on meter. Check cooling fan rotation direction on rear tail cover, if not consistent with motor marking, it’s reversed. Check identification for consistency.
  3. There are debris or broken parts in the water pump, or the bearing is damaged, and the debris needs to be cleaned and the bearing replaced.
  4. The base of the water pump should have shock-absorbing rubber pads, which are in close contact with the foundation surface. The foundation strength of the water pump installation should not be too light or have suspension and looseness. The water pump needs to be reinstalled according to the specifications.
Swimming pool pump care and maintenance

For swimming pool managers, in addition to regular water treatment work every day, they also need to maintain the swimming pool equipment, otherwise it is easy to cause damage to the equipment, affect the effect of water treatment, and affect the normal use of the swimming pool. The water pump is a hydraulic machine that transports water to a distant place by means of power equipment and transmission devices, and plays an important role in swimming pool water treatment. In order to improve the working efficiency of the water pump and ensure the normal operation of the water treatment system, we need to regularly clean and maintain the filter blue, check the sealing ring of the pump head cover, etc., and master the correct use and maintenance methods.

  • Daily records. Regularly check and establish running records, including running time, whether there is abnormal noise and vibration, flow conditions, current voltage and motor temperature, etc. In case of a failure, it is necessary to record the location of the failure, the cause and analyze the discharge situation.
  • Before the water pump is running, be sure to check whether the hair collector has been filled with water to ensure that the suction port has enough suction.
  • Before starting the water pump, check whether the water inlet valve and the water outlet valve are open to prevent damage to the water pump.
  • To prevent pump blockage, regularly check pump head cover sealing ring and clean hair filter basket promptly. When cleaning, stop pump and close ball valve on inlet/outlet system and pool connecting pipe. Open transparent cover to clean filter basket, reinstall cover, open ball valve, and start pump again.
  • Be sure to disconnect the power supply of the water pump when performing mechanical maintenance.
  • When the pump is not used for a long time in winter, the water in the pump must be drained.
