Working principle of macerator pump

Where is the macerator pump installed?

According to different installation locations, it can be roughly divided into two different installation methods: Small and Large.

Installation Method 1: Ground Installation
  1. Ground installation is a common method for small macerator pump.
  2. Equipment can be directly connected to the rear toilet, but the toilet must be 18cm away from the center of the drain.
  3. If the drain cannot be connected to the macerator pump, a compensation connection can be made through a soft connection.
Installation Method 2: Hidden Installation
  1. Hidden installation is an option for bathroom macerator pump with a water inlet on the side of the toilet.
  2. The equipment can be buried in the wall for a concealed connection with a wall-mounted toilet.​
  3. During installation, a movable inspection hole of at least 500x500mm should be reserved.​
  4. A space of 500x210x500mm should also be reserved inside the wall for equipment installation.
Installation Method 3: Sinking Installation
  1. Most small macerator pump do not meet the installation requirements for the pit.​
  2. The protection level of the machine should be high (IP68) to prevent damage from water.​
  3. Equipment with IP68 protection can be placed directly in the pit and operate normally even if water enters.​
  4. Keep the water collecting tank in place to prevent the equipment from floating and reduce noise from vibrations.
Maintenance of Macerator Pump
  1. Replace sealing ring: turn off switch, lift pump, remove bottom cover, replace with proper sealing ring.​
  2. Maintain macerator pump: clean and store in ventilated, dry place, run every 15 days if not used.​
  3. Check cable annually, replace if damaged.​
  4. Inspect motor insulation and screws annually, contact after-sales service if needed.​
  5. Check oil annually, drain and replace if water found, check again after 3 weeks. Replace mechanical seal if necessary.​

Common Faults & Troubleshooting of Macerator Pump
1. The water pump does not turn when starting
  • Reasons: The packing is too tight or the impeller and the pump body are blocked by debris; the pump shaft, bearing, and leakage ring are rusted; the pump shaft is seriously bent.
  • Remedy: Loosen the packing, dredge the water diversion tank: disassemble the pump body to remove debris or rust; correct the bent shaft or replace the pump shaft with a new one.
2. After starting, the water pump of the macerator pump does not produce water
  • Reasons: There is air in the pump or gas accumulation in the water inlet pipe; the bottom valve is not closed tightly and the water is not filled; the packing of the vacuum pump of the macerator pump macerator pump  is seriously leaking.
  • Remedy: remove debris, replace the damaged rubber pad, change the direction of the valve plate; press or replace the new packing, close the gate valve or flap the door; increase the amount of water until there is no air bubbles at the vent plug; replace the Cracked pipe water; reduce the head and press the nozzle of the water pump into the water 0.5 meters.
3. Insufficient Flow

4. Flow from Large to Small
  • Reason: The filter screen or bell mouth is gradually blocked by debris; the dynamic water level is lowered, and the submerged water depth of the water inlet pipe is not enough.
  • Remedy: remove sundries, increase the depth of the bottom valve into the water.
5. Water outlet interrupted during operation
  • The motor does not start, and the circuit fault is eliminated;
  • Pipeline blockage, clear the blockage;
  • Pipeline rupture, repair welding or replacement;
  • The water filter is blocked, remove the blockage;
  • The suction port is above the water surface, if the discharge pump is still ineffective, it is recommended to change the pump;
  • The electric pump is reversed, and the phase sequence of the power line is changed;
  • If the seal ring and impeller of the pump casing are damaged, replace them with new ones.
6. The motor cannot be started, accompanied by a humming sound
  • If one phase is broken, repair the line;
  • The bearing holds the shaft, repair or replace;
  • There are foreign objects in the impeller and the pump body is stuck, remove the foreign objects;
  • The voltage is low, adjust the voltage.
7. The current is too large, the pointer of the ammeter swings
  • Sweep the rotor cavity and replace the guide bearing.
  • The relative rotation between the shaft and the bearing is inflexible, replace or repair the bearing.
  • Due to the serious wear of the thrust bearing, the impeller and the sealing ring are worn, so replace the thrust bearing or thrust disc.
  • The shaft is bent, the bearing is not concentric, send it to the cramping factory for repair.
8. The insulation resistance of the motor winding to the ground is low
  • The motor windings and cable joints or cables are damaged, replace the windings, and repair the joints or cables.
9. Severe vibration when the unit is running
  • The rotor of the motor is unbalanced. Except for the loose bolts that can be tightened, other faults should be sent to the manufacturer for processing
  • The pump impeller is unbalanced
  • The motor or pump shaft is bent.
10. Connecting bolts are loose
  • Reasons: The pipeline or water inlet is blocked by debris; the packing is worn and loose, and the water seal pipe is blocked; the impeller is broken or loose; the dynamic water level drops sharply.
  • Remedy: remove the blockage, replace the filler, clear the water pipe groove, install the water seal correctly; fasten or replace the impeller; lower the installation position of the water pump, or restart the pump after the water level rises.
11. Too much power consumption
  • Reasons: the speed is too high; the pump shaft is bent; the blades are surrounded by debris; the head is too high.
  • Remedy: adjust the appropriate speed; correct the pump shaft
