Case Study: Customized Stainless Steel Vertical Multistage Pump System (CDLF200-6 + CDH200-6)

Project Overview

When a water treatment facility faced challenges maintaining consistent pressure and flow with its existing vertical pump setup, our engineering team was invited to design a customized solution. The client required a system capable of delivering between 180–200 m³/h of flow and 36–40 bar of head pressure, using high-grade 316L stainless steel to withstand long-term corrosion exposure. Such requirements demanded a highly efficient and durable vertical pump configuration.

Understanding the Challenge

The site’s original pump could not handle the combined demand for high pressure and continuous duty operation. Our engineers analyzed the hydraulic requirements, power limitations, and spatial constraints of the facility. It became evident that a new stainless steel vertical multistage pump system would be the optimal solution — combining compact design, robust structure, and precision engineering to achieve both flow and reliability.

Customized Solution

We designed a dual-pump configuration composed of two vertical multistage units — the CDLF200-6 and CDH200-6 — operating either in parallel or alternately based on site control logic. Each pump was built from 316L stainless steel, with multi-stage impeller and diffuser assemblies optimized for efficiency and long-term endurance. The new system provided better flow stability and reduced vibration compared to conventional units.

Production & Material Control

All major components were precision-machined from certified stainless steel billets. Welding was performed under argon protection to ensure full penetration, and internal surfaces were pickled and passivated to maintain corrosion resistance. The shafts and rotors were dynamically balanced to ISO G2.5 standards, ensuring smooth performance even under 40 bar operating conditions.

Assembly and Functional Verification

Each pump was assembled under controlled conditions with laser alignment between the motor and pump shaft. The installation of mechanical seals, bearings, and coupling was documented step-by-step. Prior to shipment, both CDLF200-6 and CDH200-6 underwent comprehensive functional verification — including hydraulic testing, vibration measurement, and acoustic analysis.

During the factory test, the pumps achieved stable operation at 190 m³/h with a head of approximately 38 bar. Vibration remained below 4.3 mm/s, and the noise level did not exceed 85 dB(A). The test also confirmed sufficient NPSH margin and no sign of cavitation or leakage.

Client Inspection & Quality Approval

The client’s engineers visited our factory in China to conduct on-site verification. They inspected surface finishes, verified performance records, and witnessed a pressure hold test at 60 bar. After inspection, the customer expressed strong satisfaction with both workmanship and documentation quality, confirming the project for shipment.

Packaging & Delivery

Because the complete system weighed more than 3.5 tons, each vertical pump was packed individually in custom wooden crates compliant with ISPM-15 standards. Anti-rust film, desiccants, humidity cards, and shock indicators were used to protect the cargo during transport. Each crate was clearly marked with handling labels and serial numbers. The pumps were shipped by sea freight to ensure safe delivery to the installation site.

Result & Client Benefit

The customized stainless steel vertical multistage pump system provided a significant improvement in hydraulic performance, corrosion resistance, and ease of maintenance. With dual-pump operation, the plant now benefits from higher uptime and lower maintenance frequency. This project highlighted our ability to design and produce tailored vertical pump solutions that meet unique water treatment challenges.

Conclusión

By developing the CDLF200-6 + CDH200-6 vertical pump system, we successfully delivered a high-efficiency, long-life pumping solution for demanding industrial applications. The project demonstrates our commitment to innovation, precise engineering, and sustainable water system design.
